The police officer who was accused of mauling a teenager has been “restricted to camp” while administrative and criminal charges are yet to be filed against him.
Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) spokesperson, said Patrolman Kenneth Sobredo would not be allowed to go out of the camp premises unless for emergency reasons.
Lieutenant Colonel Joel Garcia, commander of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RFMB-6), handed the order on April 13, 2021, the same day the complaint against Sobredo was made public.
There was no order yet for him to be reassigned to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (RPHAU).
Sobredo, a member of the RFMB-6 based in Barangay Jibolo, Janiuay, Iloilo, and two other men were accused of assaulting an 18-year-old lad on April 11 in Sta. Barbara town.
Jade Eldren Sulleza, 18, a resident of Barangay Barasan Oeste, Sta. Barbara, claimed Sobredo and his two companions, Jade Souribio and Winston Solis, manhandled him.
The incident came after Sulleza and his uncle, Anthony Sulleza, had a spat with Sobredo’s uncle, Richard Sobredo, Sunday evening.
Sobredo earlier claimed that he tried to pacify the fight between his uncle and Jade Eldren and Anthony.
But the teenager asserted that the three men took turns in mauling him.
The complainant’s family stressed they would pursue charges against the cop.
