BACOLOD CITY – A 45-year-old man was wounded after resisting arrest during a carnapping incident in Barangay Salong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday.

Police Capt. Sammy Gasataya, deputy chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, said the suspect allegedly stole a parked motorcycle in the area.

When police arrived, they approached the suspect, but he allegedly drew a bladed weapon and attacked one of the officers.

This prompted the responding policemen to shoot the suspect to subdue him, considering the imminent danger.

The suspect sustained gunshot wounds to his right hand and right leg and was taken to a hospital.

Gasataya said the suspect, who is now under hospital arrest, will face charges of carnapping and direct assault.
