Cops assigned to quarantine facilities recalled

BACOLOD City – The personnel of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) assigned to quarantine facilities for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients have returned to their mother units.

Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, NOCPPO’s Deputy Public Information Officer, said in a virtual press briefing yesterday that 24 police officers were recalled from various facilities as they were now assigned as COVID tracers.

“Since November last year, wala ng policemen na assigned sa facilities. Dahan-dahan silang nirerecall,” she added.

Donasco said that some of these personnel returned to their respective police stations to do monitoring while others were utilized as part of the contact tracing team.

Donasco said those part of the contact tracing team was tasked to submit weekly updates and follow-up reports of the COVID situation.

As of yesterday, the COVID-infected personnel of NOCPPO remains at two active cases, bringing the total to 40.
