BACOLOD CITY – Policemen are looking into debt as possible motive behind the murder of a man who was found inside a sack near a swamp at Purok Malipayon, Barangay 35 here last Tuesday.

The victim was later identified by the police as Joel Aviles Jr., 30, of Magsungay, Barangay Singcang-Airport here.

Major Jovil Sedel, head of Police Station 1, said Aviles probably owed money to someone which may have triggered the killing, based on their information.

“It’s possible that it turned into grudges against the victim,” he added.

Sedel said they already have a person of interest in the case.

He said Aviles was hit by a hard object based on the injuries on his head and eyes.

He was also choked to death after a nylon rope was found around his neck, the station commander added.

Police are still investigating if the crime was committed in the area or somewhere else.
