ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Police say they have leads on the suspects who gunned down a retired member of the Philippine Army on Monday afternoon here.
Police Master Sergeant Ramil Arcangeles, spokesperson of the Roxas City Police Station, said they already coordinated with establishments near the scene of the incident to check their close circuit camera (CCTV) footages.
Arcangeles was referring to the case of Joniffer Borda, 54, a supervisor of Gold Claw Security Agency and resident of Barangay Lawaan here, who was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding suspects at Barangay Bolo.
The footages showed that it was the back rider who shot the former soldier.
But Arcangeles said they need technical experts who can refine the images.
“We found out that the description given by the witnesses corroborated with the footages,” he stressed.
Five empty shells of.45-caliber ammunition were recovered from the crime scene.
Autopsy reports indicated that Borda succumbed to six gunshot wounds on his body and jaw.
Retired colonel Judy Vallejo, owner of Gold Claw Security Agency, said Borda withdrew P200,000 cash for the salaries of the security guards before he was shot.
Borda was about to proceed to the office from the bank when the incident happened.
Vallejo added that there was a possibility that the victim knew the suspects because they have knowledge of Borda’s routine.
He denied that the victim had enemies as he described the latter as a good man.
Witnesses told police investigators that the two suspects were on board a black and red Honda TMX 155 motorcycle.
The suspects immediately fled after taking the suspect’s cash-laden bag.
Borda was rushed to Capiz Doctors’ Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
