Cops identify man who was found dead in E.B. Magalona

BACOLOD City – The E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station in Negros Occidental has identified a man who was found with gunshot wounds at Sitio Bagaas, Barangay Tabigue last Thursday.

The victim was identified by his family as Chris Jun Mendoza, 31, of Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, according to Captain Joseth Catonina, town police chief.

Mendoza expired at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here later that day due to two gunshot wounds in the head and left shoulder.

Catonina said they received information that the victim was allegedly involved in theft incidents.

Catonina said the victim asked permission from his mother early morning that day to buy fruits which he will sell in Victorias City. He was later found unconscious by a concerned citizen by the roadside.

Police recovered from the scene a cartridge of a suspected .45 caliber ammunition.

Catonina said investigation is ongoing to determine the real motive in the killing.
