BACOLOD City – The top cop of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) reminded officers to give human consideration to first offenders of basic health protocols in the province.
In a virtual press conference on Tuesday, Police Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director, said that policemen should give courtesy and respect to individuals who may have committed an offense amid the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) in the province.
“Respect begets respect,” he stressed.
Palgue said that violators who committed an offense for the first time should be advised to follow the health protocols by wearing a face mask and observing physical distancing.
Earlier, Palgue directed police chiefs to provide face masks and hygiene kits to less privileged individuals in their respective areas to help prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The initiative aims to help individuals avoid being caught for the said violations.
He, however, stressed that if violators repeat the offenses, they will be sanctioned.
“Kung kailangang hulihin, huhulihin talaga,” he said, although he quipped that there might be instances that they should be humane.
“Pagpaulit-ulit na, kailangan nating idetain siguro para maremind sila,” the provincial director said.
He noted that these health protocols are being implemented to achieve the goal of everyone which is to contain the spread of the virus.
