Cops say illegal drugs behind Panitan shooting

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police are eyeing illegal drugs as the possible motive for the killing of a 37-year-old person Monday evening, August 7, at Barangay Cogon, Panitan, Capiz.

Police Major Pedro Goldino Diocson, Panitan PNP chief, said they are pursuing the said angle following the recovery of 4 sachets of suspected shabu from the pocket of victim Clark Frederick Villaruz of Barangay Ilawod in Pontevedra town.

Villaruz succumbed to a wound on the head after he was shot by the two riding-in-tandem suspects with a pistol.

An ammunition slug was recovered from the crime scene at Sitio Moto, Barangay Cogon, Panitan, Capiz.

Villaruz was declared dead on arrival at Bailan District Hospital.

Police reports indicated that the victim was riding his motorcycle when the suspects blocked his path and shot him.
