BACOLOD City – Colonel Noel Aliño, director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), has ordered all commanders of 10 police stations here to increase police visibility and standby points at their respective jurisdictions.
This is in line with the security measures for this year’s Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Brillo, deputy city director for operations, said that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) checkpoint and gun ban will be implemented starting August 28.
Brillo said that policemen were advised to conduct the standard protocol on the implementation of checkpoints, so as not to hamper the activities of the motorists.
“Dapat plain view lang gid or visual search,” he added.
Brillo said that station commanders were also directed to conduct recorida to inform the public about the prohibition of carrying firearms. “Bawal magdala firearms unless authorized by the Comelec or the authorities,” he added.
Also, Brillo said that BCPO personnel will be assigned at the Robinson’s Mall here, as the first day of the filing of the certificate of candidacy (COC) kicks off on the same day.
Personnel from the Traffic Enforcement Unit will also be deployed to assist the flow of vehicles at the shopping mall, he added.
Bacolod City has a total of 61 barangays.
