BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here assured the public that there will be no incident of indiscriminate firing in the province during the holidays, especially on New Year ’s Eve.

This, after Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, Nocppo director directed police chiefs to intensify their police visibility patrol measures to prevent such case.

Baleros also warned them that they will be relieved from their posts if they failed to solve similar incident (if there is) within the 24-hour period.

In a press statement, Baleros said Nocppo will adhere to the one-strike policy of the PNP regarding incidents of death or injury as a result of indiscriminate firing during the holiday season.

Based on the directive of the PNP issued last December 15, incidents must be solved within the 24-hour period. If the chief of police or unit commander fails, he will be relieved from his post.

Baleros said police chiefs were directed to maximize effective deployment of personnel through an Integrated Patrol Deployment Plan (IPDP).

The units were also told to adhere to strict implementation of border control operations through conduct of checkpoints, he added.

Baleros reminds the public to avoid bringing of firearms outside their residence.

“We will be deploying personnel on patrol to monitor and apprehend persons who will violate the law,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nocppo will continue its regular and focused law enforcement operations despite the declaration of Suspension of Offensive Police Operations (SOPO) against the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) which took effect 12 a.m. of December 23, 2019 until 11 p.m. of January 7, 2020 in line with the observance of the yuletide season.
