A couple was arrested in an anti-narcotics operation on the afternoon of Sept. 18 in Molo, Iloilo City.

The suspects, identified only as “Ralph,” 49, a call center agent, and his live-in partner, Mercedita, 41, were apprehended at their home in Barangay North Fundidor, Molo.

Members of Iloilo City Police Station 4 arrested the couple after they allegedly conspired to sell a sachet of suspected shabu for P6,000.

Authorities recovered eight sachets of suspected shabu, weighing around 10 grams and valued at P68,000.

According to police, the operation was launched following a tip from a confidential informant, as well as complaints from local residents and barangay officials regarding the couple’s alleged involvement in illegal drugs.

Investigators believe Ralph sold drugs to call center agents and fish vendors. The police added that the couple had been under surveillance for two weeks before the arrest.

The couple reportedly sourced their supply from a known drug pusher based in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

The suspects are now in police custody and face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
