A couple suffered injuries after their motorcycle was hit by a pick-up truck in Banate, Iloilo afternoon of Dec. 27.

John Niccu Sustiguer, 29, of Barangay Poblacion, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, and his girlfriend Casandra Thea Porras, 23, of Barangay Sulangan, Dumangas, Iloilo suffered non-life threatening injuries following the incident.

The couple was navigating Barangay Alacaygan, Banate around 3:55 p.m. on Thursday when they were hit by a Ford Ranger pick-up truck driven by Canadian national Houman Anasory, who is temporarily residing in Barangay Bularan, Banate.

Lieutenant General Enrique Robles, Banate police chief, said Anasory was with his in-laws when the incident happened.

Anasory was navigating his vehicle on the shoulder to park when he merged on the road which led to the crash.

The victims were immediately brought to Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr District Hospital in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo and later transferred to Don Jose Monfort for further medical attention.

Robles said the Canadian national was already released from detention after his reglementary period had lapsed.
