BACOLOD City – Police now have a person of interest in a robbery-holdup of a couple at Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Police Executive Master Sergeant Ricky Roger Toledo, investigator of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the couple was already sleeping when four unidentified armed men stormed their house.
Toledo said the armed robbers allegedly threatened the couple at gunpoint and demanded their money.
The robbers carted away P95,000 cash, two cellular phones worth P10,000 each, groceries worth P5,000 from their sari-sari store, and jewelries worth P18,000.
The robbers, who were wearing bonnets, fled on board two motorcycles parked from a distance. The couple was unharmed.
Prior to the incident, Toledo said that an unidentified man on a motorcycle was reportedly seen outside the couple’s house believed to be observing them on the night of Jan. 26.
“Basi bala gin monitor sila nga daan,” he added.
Toledo said the cash was supposed to be used to build their house after it was destroyed by Super Typhoon Odette last year.
In fact, the couple just made a shanty for them to have a temporary shelter, he added.
“Hapos lang gid sila sudlon, kay kurtina lang man tabon,” Toledo said.
Toledo said they believed the robbers were just from the village, after the bag, where the stolen money was placed was found nearby.
Meanwhile, Toledo refused to divulge the name of the person of interest, pending the investigation.
