Two cousins were wounded in a drive-by shooting late evening of Jan 8, 2023 at City Proper, Iloilo City.

Police identified the victims as Benjamin Espinosa, 37, and Pascual Jose Ramon Espinosa, 24, both residents of Zamora Street, Barangay Monica, City Proper.

Both suffered gunshot wounds on their abdomens.

Benjamin was taken to St. Paul’s Hospital while Pascual Jose Ramon was rushed to West Visayas State University Medical Center.

They are already out of danger, Iloilo City Police Station 1 chief Major Shella Mae Sangrines said.

According to reports, the two victims were drinking liquor when a motorcycle rider allegedly shot them with a single volley.

They allegedly could not identify the gunman who was wearing a black jacket and driving a blue Honda Wave motorcycle.

The suspect fled going towards Plaza Libertad.

“What puzzles me was that they were both wounded with a single gunfire,” Sangrines said.

Almost a month ago, a still unidentified gunman opened fire at a covered gym of Barangay Monica Bluementritt, City Proper, Iloilo City, hitting four parked vehicles.

The incident, which happened at 11 p.m. on Dec 14, 2022, damaged a red Toyota Rush SUV (license plate FAE 8929), a black Chevrolet sedan (license plate FAD 1825), a white Mitsubishi Montero Sports SUV (license plate FAA 8211), and a white Honda CRV SUV (license plate AMA 9612).

Lovely Obligacion owned the Toyota Rush while the black Chevrolet sedan is registered in the name of Prosecutor Ma. Monica Espinosa but is used by her younger brother, Freddy Espinosa Jr.

Filmore Espinosa owns the two other SUVs.

The suspect in the incident remains unidentified.
