COVID-19 claims 265 lives in Iloilo province

COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 265 persons in Iloilo province as of June 19, 2021, after 31 additional mortalities were reported on June 13 to June 19, 2021, based on data from the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (PHO).

Iloilo province also noted a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 mortalities in said dates. The highest number of deaths was reported on June 18 with 12.

Two deaths were from San Rafael while the other mortalities were recorded in Guimbal, Oton, Anilao, Januiay, San Enrique, Miagao, Binagawan, Dumangas, Alimodian, and Carles.

Iloilo PHO also logged nine deaths on June 17, four more each on June 16 and June 15, and two on June 12.

The latest death was recorded on June 19, a 58-year-old female from the town of New Lucena.

The 265 deaths included 162 with co-morbidities.

Meanwhile, the town of Pavia recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths at 24; followed by Oton and Barotac Nuevo with 19 mortalities each; Santa Barbara with 18; Banate with 13; Leganes with 12; and Passi City and Pototan with 10 mortalities each.

Data from the PHO also revealed that 41 of the 43 LGUs in Iloilo province reported COVID-19 deaths. Only the towns of Mina and Tubungan logged zero deaths.

COVID-19 cases in the Iloilo province also increased in the past week with 870 additional cases logged from June 13 to June 19, 2021.

Consistent three-digit case spikes were recorded from June 15 to June 19, with over 200 cases reported last June 16. This pushed the total active cases in the province to 2,476 as of June 19. (ERS)
