Various healthcare (COVID-19) facilities were completed and recently turned over by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to different Local Government Units (LGUs) and hospitals in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
According to DPWH-6 Regional Director Lea N. Delfinado, a series of turn over ceremonies were undertaken by DPWH to formally hand over the facilities to recipient LGUs so they can already utilize these structures.
“We have already turned over a total of six units (container van) of Off-Site dormitories for medical front liners in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental. Said facilities are air-conditioned and equipped with necessary amenities like individual comfort rooms, dining and living area, sanitation area; water supply; kitchen and laundry area; utility/electrical room;and generator/distribution transformer. Two of the said dormitories are built in Brgy. Alijis in Bacolod City, one unit at Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City; one unit at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City,” Delfinado said.
“Just recently, we have turned over one Off-Site dormitory at D. S. Benedicto District Hospital in La Carlota City and another one unit in the town of Valladolid,” Delfinado stressed.
“Other Off-Site Dormitories, we have also provided 1-unit isolation/quarantine facility in Kabankalan City, which is composed of 16-airconditioned rooms with individual comfort room; and necessary amenities like male and female nurse quarters, nurse station, utility/electrical room, sanitation area, water supply, and generator/distribution transformer,” she added.
“We are also currently implementing the construction of two (2) more isolation/quarantine facilities, in addition to the existing facilities in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, each can accommodate 16 COVID-19 patients and house 8 nurses/medical personnel,” Delfinado added. (DPWHR6/RPAIO)
