COVID-19 infects 29 hospital workers

BACOLOD City – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of the local Inter-Agency Task Force against the coronavirus 2019 or COVID-19, confirmed on Tuesday that 29 workers of the Doña Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (DCLMMRH) tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease.

Eight of the infected workers are medical doctors, 4 nurses, and 17 non-medical support staff.

Dr. Julius Drilon, DCLMMRH chief, said in an advisory said that the hospital will temporarily suspend admission of patients who are COVID-19 Suspect or Probable as they have reached their full bed capacity.

He also said that the reopening of the Outpatient Department scheduled on August 12 is also deferred.

Only patients seeking chemotherapy will be served in the meantime.
