BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Friday that he supports the move of the Bacolod City Government to ask airline and shipping companies for the travel histories of their passengers, particularly those coming into the province and the city.
But Lacson said there is no need for the provincial government to do the same.
“It will just be a duplication,” Lacson told reporters here.
He said that like the move to ban vessels from China, he will let local government units decide on what to do.
Lacson said the city’s move will help in monitoring and preventing the entry of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).
Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, head of the Inter- Agency Task Force on Coronavirus disease-2019, said they have already sent letters to the different airlines and shipping companies.
Since the companies have not responded and implemented their request, Familiaran said they continue to appeal to public to help monitor persons in their area who travelled to the areas affected by COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Familiaran said that the 20 Persons under Monitoring for COVID-19 are in stable conditions. They are being monitored daily by the City Health Office.
