COVID-19 tally in Region 6 nears 8k

Confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Region 6 as of Sept. 15, 2020 are now at 7,955, according to the latest case bulletin of the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD).

The tally inches closer to the 8,000-case mark after DOH-WV CHD reported 216 new COVID-19 cases in the region.

The latest number includes 207 new local cases, 6 cases of Locally-Stranded Individuals (LSI), 2 Authorized Persons Outside of Residence, and 1 new case of a Returning Overseas Filipino (ROF).

Bacolod City registered 89 new local cases, followed by Negros Occidental province with 77, Iloilo City with 17, Aklan with 14, Iloilo with 8, and Capiz with 2 new local cases.

The new LSI cases include 4 cases from Iloilo City and 2 cases from Negros Occidental.

The 2 new APOR cases include a 41-year-old female from Dueñas, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 7752) and a 31-year-old female from Bacolod City (WV Patient No. 7915).

The only new ROF case in this latest batch is a 53-year-old male from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 7857).

The DOH-WV CHD also reported 137 new recoveries.

Bacolod City posted the most number of new recoveries with 83, followed by Iloilo with 23, Iloilo City with 22, Negros Occidental with 5, and Guimaras with 4 new recoveries.

The total number of COVID-19 recoveries in the region as of Sept. 15 is 4,408.

Four new COVID-19 fatalities were also listed by the DOH-WV CHD on Sept. 15.

These include an 83-year-old male from Talisay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 6051), a 51-year-old female from Leganes, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 6326), a 62-year-old female from Bago City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 7856).

WV Patient No. 7856 is also a newly confirmed local case.

The total number of COVID-19 mortalities in the region as of Sept. 15 is 124.
