COVID cases in WV breach 6k-mark

The number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas is now at 6,153 after 199 new cases were reported by the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) on September 7, 2020.

In this latest batch, 160 are local cases, 37 are for verification, and Locally-Stranded Individuals (LSI) and Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF) have one new case each.

Negros Occidental province logged the most number of new local cases with 81, followed by Bacolod City with 46, Iloilo City with 25, Iloilo province with 7, and Capiz province with 1 new case.

For the new cases which are still awaiting verification as to their category, Negros Occidental also listed the most number with 17 new cases, followed by Bacolod City with 12, Iloilo province with 6, and Iloilo City and Antique province with 1 new case each.

The latest LSI case is a 21-year-old male from Victorias City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 6114), and the latest ROF case is a 39-year-old male from Molo, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 6025).

No new cases were reported in Aklan and Guimaras provinces.

Based on the presence of symptoms, 122 of the new cases are asymptomatic, 43 have Influenza-Like Illnesses (ILI), 8 have Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI), and 26 are still for verification.

The total number of active cases according to the DOH-WV CHD is at 3,029 as of Sept. 7.

There were also 120 new recovered COVID-19 cases on Sept. 7, adding up to a total COVID-19 recovery tally of 3,034.

Iloilo City listed the most number of recoveries with 55, followed by Bacolod City with 27, Negros Occidental province with 14, Capiz province with 10, Iloilo province with 9, Guimaras province with 3, and Antique province with 3 new recoveries.

Three new deaths were also reported on Sept. 7, all of which are from Silay City, Negros Occidental.

These are a 79-year-old male (WV Patient No. 4986) and an 83-year-old female (WV Patient No. 4987), who both died on Aug. 28, and a 44 -year-old male, who died on Sept. 1.

The total number of COVID-19 deaths as of Sept. 7 is now at 90 according to the DOH-WV CHD.

A total of 1126 laboratory results were released to the DOH-WV CHD from 7 Sub-National and Molecular Laboratories in Bacolod City, Iloilo City, and Negros Occidental province.
