BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is facing a bit of difficulty as more personnel were infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Police Lieutenant Liberty Indiape, BCPO information officer, said that 10 new COVID cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total to 85.

Three of the new cases were from the Mobile Patrol Unit, two each were from Police Stations 9 and 10, and one each from Police Stations 3, 8, and at the BCPO headquarters.

“85 is a big number para sa COVID case pero indi pa gid man na siya alarming, medyo challenging lang sa amon nga mag double time pa gd para ma cope ang obra para sa iban nga mga upod sa unit,” Indiape said.

Indiape said that Police Station 4 has the most number of infected personnel at 15, followed by Police Station 10, with 10 cases.

Despite the current situation, Indiape said they are still trying to cope with the insufficiency of personnel in affected police stations by deploying additional policemen.

Indiape said they will also have a meeting with the BCPO staff to discuss contingency plans amid the rise in COVID cases among the personnel.

In case more policemen will continue to contract the virus, they will also have to think about requesting augmentation from other units, she added.
