The Central Philippine University (CPU) is one of the top universities in Asia based on the 2022 university ranking for Asia by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

A total of 15 higher education institutions (HEI) in the country were included in the global higher education think-tank ranking.

CPU was the only university in Western Visayas that made the cut with a ranking of 651+ alongside Adamson University, The Cebu Technological University, Central Mindanao University, and Lyceum of the Philippines University.

The University of the Philippines (UP) remains to be the country’s top university at 77th place and the only university in the country in the Top 100 spot.

Other Philippine universities that were included in the top 687 were Ateneo de Davao University (501-550); Mapua University (501-550); Silliman University (501-550); Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (551-660); Central Luzon State University (601-650); and Xavier University (601-650).

In a statement, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas congratulated Central Philippine University for its feat.

“CPU is the only university to do so in the entire Western Visayas region. Congratulations CPU for providing quality education for students and nourishing their young minds,” he said.

QS is one of the three prestigious world university ranking agencies, Times Higher Education (THE) and Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

The QS Asia University Rankings, which is published annually since 2009, highlights the top universities in Asia based on its 11 indicators listed in its website namely academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio; international research network; citations per paper; and papers per faculty.
