BACOLOD City – Police have persons of interest behind the shooting and robbery hold-up incidents that injured a crane operator in Barangay Vista Alegre here last Tuesday.
Police identified the victim as Ronald Sison, 42, of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, said the victim, who was on board his motorcycle, bought coffee from a store when two unidentified men blocked his way and declared a hold-up.
The suspects then allegedly rode his motorcycle and shot the victim while asking for his money and valuables, Bonilla said.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound in his right thigh, while the suspects carted away P1,500 and a cellular phone.
However, while the robbers were escaping, they lost control over the speeding motorcycle and fell into a creek, prompting them to run away, leaving the motorcycle behind.
Bonilla said the motorcycle and the cellular phone were recovered, as well as an empty shell of .45 caliber ammunition.
Bonilla said the persons of interest in the incident had a previous robbery case and reportedly got out of jail whether due to provision, service of sentence or plea bargaining.
Bonilla said frustrated murder and robbery hold-up charges will be filed against the two suspects.
