Despite Alyssa Valdez’s absence due to a minor injury, the Creamline Cool Smashers showed their depth and experience, crushing the Chef’s Classics Lady Red Spikers in straight sets, 25-11,25-14,25-21, in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
Fille Cainglet-Cayetano led the Cool Smashers with 9 points, while Michelle Gumabao and Jema Galanza scored 8 points apiece.
The team displayed their depth even without their MVP, as the Lady Red Spikers defense could not withstand Creamline’s offensive artillery.
Gumabao and Galanza posted serious problems throughout the match against Chef’s Classics’ net defenders.
The first two sets came easily for Creamline, while the third proved a little more difficult with the Chef’s Classics’ floor defense tightened up, courtesy of their libero, Julia Angeles, who had 13 excellent receptions and 10 digs.
Nieza Viray top-scored for the Lady Red Spikers with 8 points, while Marie Bangad chipped in 6 points.
