The Creamline Cool Smashers displayed championship experience and poise under pressure, grabbing all three sets coming from behind against the Pacific town Army Lady Troopers, 25-23,28-26,26-24 in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
The Lady Troopers began the set with their efficient attacks, cruising past Creamline’s blockers and placing the ball well.
Gaining momentum, Army looked to blitz their way in the first set but PVL MVP Alyssa Valdez took matters in her own hands, lifting Creamline to snatch the first set.
The next set would prove to be worse for the Cool Smashers as Army was one point away to equalizing the set, 24-21, but the heart and determination of Creamline prevailed, firing three unanswered points to eventually take the second set.
The last set would be the same story for the Lady Troopers as they again blew their 22-19 lead.
Valdez tallied 18 big points for Creamline, while Ilongga Jovelyn Gonzaga contributed 10 points and 16 excellent digs for Army.
The win extended the Cool Smasher’s winning streak to seven.
