Alas Pilipinas, the women’s national volleyball team, isn’t done with their off-season moves after adding Creamline Cool Smashers’ 1-2 punch, Jema Galanza and Tots Carlos.
The development was confirmed on June 11, 2024, after Alas Pilipinas head coach Jorge Souza de Brito announced their inclusion in their already talented player pool.
Initially, Galanza and Carlos were already tapped to be a part of the first Alas Pilipinas rebranded roster that competed in the recently concluded AVC Challenge Cup but an exhausting Premier Volleyball League (PVL) championship campaign got in the way.
Now that both players already received their well-deserved vacation and rest, Galanza and Carlos are looking to prepare if the team arrives from their pair of international friendly matches.
A month ago, Alas Pilipinas made history after finishing the AVC Cup with a bronze medal when they defeated Australia, 25-23, 25-15, 25-7.
It was a roller coaster of emotions for Alas Pilipinas after receiving their bronze medals. With less than a week to prepare for the prestigious tournament, the players did not expect much but aimed to give their best and put up a fight in every game.
Alas Pilipinas exceeded expectations by sweeping their pool and entering the semifinals with a perfect 4-0 record.
“I have no words to express how happy I am. Not just for myself, but for these guys. I told them at the beginning they deserve a lot. They really deserve it,” said de Brito.
Aside from Galanza and Carlos, NU Lady Bulldogs’ dynamic offensive duo of Bella Belen & Alyssa Solomon together with Casiey Dongallo of UE are also added to the Alas Pilipinas pool.
