One of the premier football athletes in the world just tested positive for COVID-19.
The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive for the virus and will be temporarily dropped from the Portuguese national team’s roster.
After their intense goalless match against France in the Nations League, Ronaldo and his teammates were then tested for the virus as part of their safety protocols.
Ronaldo testing positive for COVID also means he is doubtful for his Juventus Champions League showdown against main rival Lionel Messi and FC Barcelona.
According to the Portuguese Football Federation, Ronaldo is asymptomatic and is doing well but will be isolated until tested negative.
Ronaldo’s offensive presence will be badly missed by the Portuguese national team as they try to secure the number one spot without their superstar.
The Portuguese main gunner joined Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the list of the most prominent football athletes to contract COVID-19.
