The Iloilo City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) reminded the public to be vigilant and practice safety measures this Dinagyang Festival.
After two years of hiatus, CDRRMO head Donna Magno said thousands of Dinagyang revelers are expected to flood the city streets during the highlight of the Dinagyang Festival this weekend, Jan 21-22, 2023.
Magno said they have prepositioned 28 ambulance units, ten fire trucks, and five rescue trucks in key areas in the city to respond to any health emergencies during the highlight of the festival.
Aside from this, 220 responders will be prepositioned in the different strategic areas, particularly in the judging areas in the City Proper district.
“We have resources coming from our partners, hospitals, private sectors, volunteer groups, and other local government units (LGUs). Ma-full deployment kita sang aton mga responders sa mga judging areas and parade routes during the highlight sa Sabado kag Dominggo,” she said in an interview at Radyo Pilipinas Iloilo on Friday.
Magno reminded the public to practice safety measures by bringing water, umbrellas, and other protection from the heat.
She also advised the immuno- compromised and senior citizens to stay in their homes and instead, watch the Dinagyang Festival on television or social media.
“Ang usual naton nga ginabantayan ang gakalipong, nagutman, and dehydrated that’s why we keep on reminding ang pumuluyo kag mga kabarangayan nga interesado magtan-aw sang Dinagyang to practice personal safety measures kag antes maghalin balay dapat may bitbit tubig, payong, kag iban pa,” she said.
Meanwhile, a total of 54 CCTV cameras have been installed in the City Proper district in order to monitor the different activities and other incidents.
“Initially we have 20 cameras but we will be adding 34 more para mamonitor naton ang mga activities diri sa mga judging areas kag food kiosks diri sa City Proper,” she added. (DG)
