Daily Guardian’s Holiday Gift-Giving: A hundred joyful treats to our kids

As the Yuletide season unfolds, we find ourselves celebrating the birth of Jesus – a time marked by the timeless practice of gift-giving.

Whether it’s a simple exchange of gifts during a Christmas party at our school, our company, or within our humble houses, the spirit of giving holds a unique place in our hearts.

This tradition’s roots extend back to the Magi, who bestowed precious gifts upon the infant Jesus.

Embodying the spirit of generosity and love this season brings, the Daily Guardian team provided some joy to the children at Brgy. Old Airport in Mandurriao, Iloilo City during a holiday gift-giving activity last December 18.

With the aim of creating a memorable holiday experience for each, the DG team distributed gift packs to 100 less fortunate children, treated them with Jollibee meals, and gave them toys, transforming the old airport into a hub of Christmas cheer.

The program included a series of entertaining games, where children enthusiastically participated in the “Longest Line,” Paper Dance,” and “Give Me What I Want.”

Adding an extra layer of excitement, the event featured the presence of Yakult Man and Yakult Lady, who became the stars of the show.

The children danced alongside the lively mascots. For one child, the experience was particularly enchanting, as it marked their first encounter with the big and animated Yakult characters.

Barangay Kagawad Mae Miaque Gatusani conveyed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the community, expressing appreciation for the Daily Guardian’s initiative.

“Duro gid nga salamat kay nagkadto kamo diri sa amon barangay para maghatag sang kalipayan sa mga kabataan,” she stated.

Barangay Kagawad Reynold Enriquez and the tanod team of Barangay Airport were also in tow to help facilitate the event.

In this holiday season, Daily Guardian’s commitment to uplifting the spirits of the less fortunate reflects the timeless Ilonggo values of compassion, generosity, and the importance of fostering a sense of belonging within the community.

It is also our way of giving back to the community, highlighting how small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in the lives of others, embodying the true spirit of Christmas.

Our heartfelt appreciation to our sponsors who made this event possible – Universal Robina Corp., St. Jude Consulting Services, SM City Iloilo, Izeem Commercial, Iloilo Supermart, Printers Bodega, Joane Marketing, and LJ Auto Supply.
