BACOLOD City – Will it be another unsolved case?
This question arose after police admitted facing a blank wall in the shooting of a policeman who went Absent Without Office Leave (AWOL).
Patrolman Eric Alcosaba was gunned down by four unidentified suspects near a fastfood chain at the Burgos-Circumferential road on Feb 15, 2020.
Police Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) spokesman, said Monday that investigators reached a dead end in their investigation, especially in the illegal drugs angle.
“Basta may angot sa illegal drugs budlay gid ma-resolve,” Pico told Daily Guardian.
Earlier Pico said the killing of Alcosaba is a priority case of the BCPO.
But he admitted that the investigation is going slow because of difficulties encountered by investigators.
Pico cited for instance that the CCTV of the fast food chain was not functioning during the time of the incident.
When asked if Alcosaba’s murder will become another unsolved case Pico said “Yes, unless may mag-testify.”
Recent unsolved killings in the city that were linked to illegal drugs included that of businessmen Roberto “Kaishek” Tan and Ontao Sacar.
