Dengue cases down by 62 percent

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) posted a 62 percent drop in the number of dengue cases here from Jan 1 to Feb 1, 2020.

CHO Environmental Sanitation Division head, Dr. Grace Tan said they only recorded 88 cases so far this year, compared to 231 with one fatality in the same period last year.

Records indicated that Barangay Singcang-Airport has the most number of cases this year with 11, followed by Mandalagan with nine, and Taculing and Alijis with six each.

Tan reiterated the importance of cleaning the surroundings in order to eliminate possible nesting grounds for mosquitoes.

In 2019, the city recorded a total of 2,713 dengue cases, with nine fatalities.
