The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), as the primary agency responsible for the protection, conservation, and management of the country’s environment and natural resources, is doing its best to engage the community and the public to achieve its goals.

Thus, the DENR 6 headed by Regional Executive Director Livino B. Duran signed a Memorandum of Partnership (MOPA)/Covenant together with the President of Dulungan Youth Organization, Jann Vince I. Barcinal as the region’s Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Ambassadors for the province of Antique on November 23, 2023 during the ComPassion Project Activity of the region.

As stated in the MOPA, the Dulungan Youth shall be considered as partner of the DENR and become the role model of youth/student in pushing for a healthy and clean environment; as such they will conduct an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign, advocacy and partnership-building activities in the span of three (3) years.

“Young people have many ideas on how to further protect our environment, with their wide range of imagination, innovative ideas and willingness to address environmental and climatic challenges,” RED Duran said.

The ENR Ambassadors serves as an effective partner and force multiplier in changing behavior of the people towards environmental stewardship.

The Ambassadors will focus on the specific programs namely; Community-based Forest Management, Expanded National Greening Program/ Tree Planting Activity, Solid Waste Management, Ecotourism and Conservation of Protected Areas, and posting of environment related infographics and/or articles in their social media accounts.
