DENR field offices in Negros Occ. bring COVID-19 assistance to beneficiaries

Personnel of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Negros Occidental prepare grocery packs for their relief operation initiatives amid the COVID-19 pandemic. (DENR 6)

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 6 initiated efforts to support the fight against COVID-19 through its Provincial and Community ENR Offices (PENROs/CENROs).

PENRO Negros Occidental has distributed 211 grocery packs, which include four kilos of rice, eggs, canned goods and cereal drinks, to trisikad drivers who are residents of Brgy. 39, Bacolod City and to PENRO Job Orders (JOs) and contractuals affected by the Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) period.

Alcohols from Asian Alcohol Corp were also distributed to them.

PENRO Negros Occidental personnel shared a portion of their salaries to come up with Php 50,000 which they used to buy grocery products that were given out to the beneficiaries.

PENR Officer Edgardo M. Rostata spearheaded the relief operations and also exerted efforts to continue monitoring the Protected Areas (PAs) in the province and protect it from illegal trekkers.

PENRO Negros Occidental also provided support to the Philippine National Police (PNP) officers, members of Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) and barangay tanod during the conduct of checkpoints to help secure the PAs.

Meanwhile, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Kabankalan City extended COVID-19 aid to 14 contractuals, members of Bantay Lasang Brigade and Wildlife Enforcement Officers (WEOs) of Brgy. Daan Banua, Kabankalan City and Brgy. Damutan, Hinoba-an.

CENR Officer Rosievel Dimatulac led the operation.

CENRO Kabankalan City also donated cash assistance to the frontliners of Kabalikat Civicom who also rendered their services to stop the spread of CoViD-19. (DENR-6)
