SAN JOSE, Antique — Some 800 face shields were distributed to frontline services workers in various towns in Antique.
The municipalities of San Jose, Sibalom, Belison, Hamtic, Tobias Fornier, Tibiao and Pandan were the recipients of the personal protective equipment courtesy by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Office-Antique Response Emergency Action Team (REAcT) in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross-Antique Chapter.
The initiative is the group’s expression of support to the frontliners in view of the government’s campaign against the pandemic Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Other recipients of the protective gears include some frontliners in banks, public market in the capital town, personnel from the Provincial Health Office as well as some media practitioners including the staff of the Philippine Information Agency.
Aside from the effort of creating makeshift face shields, the DENR PENRO and Antique National School (ANS) Night Secondary Department have turned-over empty plastic bottles to the University of Antique that will be used as containers for hand sanitizers, hand dips and foot baths which are being made in the University.
Meanwhile, DENR-PENRO head Andres Untal is urging other agencies and institutions, both public and private, or even private individuals to donate their used plastic bottles in support to this initiative.
“All these efforts show relevancy of public service during these challenging times and it is of great help if each one of us is brave enough to take the risk for the benefit of all,” Untal said. (DENR/PIA)
