BACOLOD City – The deputy police chief of E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station in Negros Occidental recently went to Iloilo City to personally explain his side to the director of the National Police Commission (Napolcom)-6 regarding his absence at the police station during the latter’s visit two weeks ago.
Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, deputy information officer of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said Police Lieutenant Minardo Ellaga decided to personally meet the Napolcom personnel to tell them what really happened.
Ellaga was reported to have asked permission from Police Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director, that he will not be able to report to the police station on May 15, prior to the surprise visit of Napolcom-6 director Atty. Joseph Celis that day.
During the Napolcom visit, four personnel were reportedly caught sleeping at the police station that caused disappointment on the part of Celis, who later reprimanded them.
Aside from that, Celis also noticed the filthy premises of the station and the absence of Ellaga and their police chief Police Lieutenant John Paul Tabujara.
With the said incident, Tabujara was immediately relieved from his post and was moved to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) at the Nocppo headquarters here.
Meanwhile, Donasco said that the provincial police office has already received the written explanation of the six cops but she did not divulge the content.
“Tuloy-tuloy pa rin po ang investigation sa kanila until mapatawan po sila ng what is due for them na action,” she added.
Donasco said the investigation will also elevate to the regional level.
On the other hand, some Nocppo headquarters personnel led by Police Major Jesus Mesahon, officer-in-charge of Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Unit, visited the police station last week and noticed some improvements which they consider a good move in relation to the mandate of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on cleanliness and orderliness of every police station, according to Donasco.
