The Detroit Pistons are slowly picking up the pieces after pulling off an impressive victory over the Brooklyn Nets, 106-92, to grab their second win of the ongoing NBA regular season on November 4, 2024.
Detroit just bounced back from an embarrassing loss to the New York Knicks and banked on their balanced offensive attack to repel their Eastern Conference rivals on the road.
After a nip-and-tuck first-half duel, the Pistons pulled away in the third frame when they outscored the Nets, 31-20, to take control of the ball game.
The Pistons picked up where they left off and didn’t slow down in the final 12 minutes, capped off by their best defensive quarter as they limited the Nets to their lowest-scoring period of the game with only 15 points.
Detroit tallied a total of six blocks and forced Brooklyn to 13 turnovers, resulting in 19 markers made off those made deflections and steals.
However, the major storyline of the game was how the Pistons outrebounded the Nets, 47-27, which steered them to 14 second-chance points and 44 markers in the shaded lane.
Six players entered the double-digit scoring mark for Detroit led by their franchise player Cade Cunningham who dropped 19 points on an efficient 8/13 shooting from the field.
Aside from his scoring load, the combo guard also stuffed the stat sheets and chipped in six rebounds and five assists.
Jalen Duren, the Pistons’ young and upcoming star frontcourt, amassed a double-double and delivered 13 markers, 17 boards, four dimes, three blocks, and a steal.
Other players who contributed double-digit scoring for the Pistons are Malik Beasley with 18, Jaden Ivey with 15, and Tim Hardaway Jr. with 14.
On the other hand, Cameron Johnson had his best offensive performance for the Nets this season as the smooth shooter dropped 26 big points but it was only Cam Thomas who joined him in sharing the scoring load with 17.
Dennis Schroder, who averaged 26 points in their last six outings, struggled from the field and only had seven markers, his worst offensive showing in the ongoing regular season.
