BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has tapped the barangay watchmen (tanods) to aid the police in the anti-criminality campaign here.
Police Colonel Noel Aliño, BCPO acting director, provided cellular phones and registered sim cards to the chief tanods (watchmen) of 61 barangays here to ascertain effective implementation of the purposes of DIAL-B.
DIAL-B was launched at the BCPO headquarters here last Tuesday during a meeting with all the chief tanods here.
It is one of the best practices of the BCPO which establishes an emergency hotline between the chief tanods directly to Aliño. This is to ensure the timely conveyance of situation reports, updates, and requests for police assistance via SMS or phone calls 24/7.
Chief tanods, along with the policemen, are often on the frontlines during incidents, public disorders, and disasters.
DIAL-B is expected to facilitate immediate police response to calls for service and deter crimes here by strengthening the partnership between the police and barangay officials.
Aliño earlier underscored the importance of tanods, as they play a vital role in keeping the community safe and secure.
