Former PBA top executive Richard “Dickie” Bachmann will formally replace Noli Eala’s post as the Philippine Sports Commission’s (PSC) chairman.
The development came after the Office of the President officially appointed Bachmann as the new PSC chairman on December 28, 2022.
Bachmann served as Alaska Aces’ governor for a long time and was also the commissioner of the UAAP Season 85 basketball tournament.
Aside from his expertise in the field of 5×5 hoops, Bachmann also shared the same knowledge in the 3×3 when he got appointed as the PBA 3×3 circuit chairman.
It was also confirmed after the Office of the Press Secretary announced that Eala will no longer assume the post of the sporting agency.
Eala, a former PBA commissioner, only lasted for 120 days after getting the top sports executive position last August 2022.
It was former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez who pushed for Eala as the new PSC chairman several months ago.
However, Rodriguez left the Marcos administration last September 2022 after stepping down as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s executive secretary.
Rodriguez announced his move a few months ago and said that it was a personal decision to leave his position to have more time with his family and kids.
After Rodriguez departed from the Marcos administration, rumors that Eala is next to step down as PSC’s chairman finally came to reality.
