SAN JOSE, Antique – 231 contact tracers in the province of Antique were capacitated by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Antique’s Local Governance Resource Center on government rules and protocols in a one-day capacity building activity on Civil Service Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards (Republic Act 6713) here recently.

Civil Service Commission-Antique director Ramon Refugio conducted the orientation.

While they are only expected to serve until Dec 31, 2020, contact tracers are expected to deliver their tasks as stated in their Terms of Reference by conducting interviews, profiling, and performing an initial public health risk assessment of COVID-19 cases and their identified close contacts, as well as refer the close contacts to isolation facilities, in coordination with local health authorities.

The team leaders of the 18 municipalities were present during the activity while other contact tracers attended virtually.

They are also expected to represent the department in their respective areas of assignment.

Since they are from various educational backgrounds and experiences, they need to inculcate not only the DILG’s mode and manner of operations, but also that of the government.

Following the new normal, DILG Antique employed an on-site and virtual orientation. The team leaders in all municipalities were physically present during the orientation while the remaining participants attended from their respective stations via live streaming.
