The Western Institute of Technology’s new site gym was full of Taekwondo athletes hailing from the different parts of Western Visayas.

A whole day filled with sportsmanship and respect made the Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Dinagyang Taekwondo championships successful and one of the best.

With the main aim of leveling up the Ilonggo athletes to another level, the tournament catered kids as young as five years of age up to the high school category.

In the grade school division, the Nicole Taekwondo Gym (NTG) from Janiuay bagged the overall championship while the widely-renowned Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) Gym from Iloilo City placed second.

Meanwhile, in the secondary division, the Rodito Jaurige Gym (RJTG) from Dingle and Pototan reigned supreme and ruled among the big boys and girls while the NEB-1 Academy notched second-place honors.

After almost 150 matches, the most important thing that everybody in WIT gym saw was the respect and care each opponent gave to each other.

That’s the spirit of true sportsmanship.
