BACOLOD CITY — A 59-year-old man with a disability was arrested for fatally stabbing a 29-year-old laborer over an unpaid P100 debt in Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, police said Monday.

The identities of both the victim and the suspect are being withheld by the authorities.

“The suspect approached the victim to settle the debt,” said Police Major Joevito Bose, town police chief. “After the victim refused and kicked the suspect in the face, the suspect retaliated by stabbing the victim in the right leg.”

The victim died at the scene, while the suspect was apprehended at his residence.

“It’s been weeks since the suspect first asked for repayment,” Bose explained. “The victim allegedly mocked the suspect for his disability.”

Bose noted that the suspect is partially blind and confirmed that homicide charges are being prepared against him.
