March 8, 2021 would mark Novak Djokovic’s latest lawn tennis achievement.
After a splendid championship finish during the 2021 Australian Open, Djokovic’s world no.1 Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) ranking will surpass Roger Federer’s all-time record of 310 weeks.
Djokovic’s title-clinching run at Melbourne, Australia assured him of his world no.1 spot before the next grand-slam event.
“Now, after achieving the historic No. 1 for the longest weeks at No. 1, it’s going to be a relief for me because I’m going to focus all my attention on Slams mostly,” said Djokovic.
After the Australian Open, Djokovic is now back with his intensive preparation for the 2021 French Open eyed on mid-May until the first week of June.
Djokovic is still being haunted by his straight-sets loss to the “King of Clay” Rafael Nadal last French Open, 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 and will need to have his A-game this time if he wants to get back at the Spaniard.
Also, winning the 2021 French Open would move him to just one grand-slam away in tying both Nadal and Federer for the most grand-slams with 20.
It will be business as usual for the men’s world no.1 when he takes on the best players on the clay surface in May.
“When you are going for No. 1 ranking, you kind of have to be playing the entire season and you have to be playing well, you have to play all the tournaments,” added Djokovic.
