Despite the ongoing controversies happening around the world of professional sports regarding their COVID-19 vaccination status, lawn tennis superstar Novak Djokovic is still not ready to reveal whether he already received the shot or not.
After the state of Victoria in Australia released a new mandate that would require all professional athletes to get vaccinated before playing, the Serbian star broke his silence after a week.
Djokovic said that in line with Victoria’s newest mandate for sports, he might not book a ticket to Australia next tournament to defend his title.
“Things beings as they are, I still don’t know if I will go to Melbourne. I will not reveal my status whether I have been vaccinated or not, it is a private matter and an inappropriate inquiry,” said Djokovic.
Djokovic has always been in hot water when asked about his stand on the COVID-19 vaccine. Previously, the 20-time Grand Slam champion has never spoken about his support in inoculating the vaccine for pro sports.
However, fellow tennis superstars Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were in the frontline of advocating the COVID-19 vaccine for a safer sporting environment.
“People go too far these days in taking the liberty to ask questions and judge a person. Whatever you say ‘Yes, no, maybe, I am thinking about it, they will take advantage,” Djokovic added.
