DOE, Mitsubishi sign pact on Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla welcomed Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp (MMPC) Chairman Noriaki Hirakata and other representatives of MMPC during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement to lend out a unit of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) to the Department of Energy for the purpose of promoting PHEVs.

Sec. Lotilla shared updates on the CREVI, wherein 194 battery EVs, 19 plug-in hybrid EVs, 30 hybrid EVs, and 32 light EVs were registered as of last month. In addition, 96 commercial EV charging stations have been deployed as of December 2023.

He encouraged MMPC to continuously support the clean transport system through extending their innovation to EV charging stations and other EV infrastructure, including assisting the development of soft skills on these new technologies.

Assistant Secretary Ronald Conquilla and Director Patrick Aquino witnessed the signing of the MOA. Also present in the meeting were Mitsubishi Motors Corp EVP Tatsuo Nakamura, Corporate Officer Minoru Kinoshita, and Global Sales Manager Daichi Higashi. Other MMPC officials also present were President and CEO Takeshi Hara, EVO Takeshi Usami, and FVP Imelda Abadilla-Brown.
