DOH-6 Issues Holy Week Health Tips for Travelers

By Mariela Angella Oladive

The Department of Health (DOH) Western Visayas Center for Health Development (CHD) has issued health reminders to ensure a safe and peaceful observance of Holy Week.

In its advisory, the DOH urged the public to carry a basic first aid kit containing alcohol, bandages, antiseptics, band-aids, paracetamol, and any maintenance or prescription medications.

Travelers are also encouraged to be familiar with nearby first aid stations and emergency procedures at their destinations.

Families with children should supervise them closely and provide name tags that include a guardian’s contact number.

To prevent dehydration, the DOH advised bringing sufficient clean drinking water, avoiding alcoholic beverages, and limiting sugary drink intake.

Proper food preparation and thorough cooking were emphasized to avoid foodborne illnesses.

For those engaging in outdoor activities, the agency recommended the use of sunscreen, lightweight clothing, and protective items like umbrellas, hats, or raincoats to guard against heat and rain.

The DOH also urged the public to monitor weather updates, follow official health advisories, and observe basic health protocols such as wearing face masks and avoiding travel when feeling unwell.
