DOLE boosts livelihood and labor education in Guimaras

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office VI has extended a comprehensive support package across Guimaras province, targeting various sectors in three municipalities with livelihood assistance, labor education, and the promotion of labor standards.

In Barangay Constancia, San Lorenzo, forty-five beneficiaries were granted Php1,339,525 in assistance for a range of livelihood projects. Community leader Punong Barangay Alicia Ponce noted the community’s gratitude, highlighting initiatives such as cattle, native chicken, and hog raising, alongside sari-sari store setups.

DOLE also focused on the youth of Nueva Valencia National High School by providing career guidance to over 150 Grade 12 students, aiming to equip them with knowledge of labor market trends and skill enhancement techniques.

Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. emphasized the multi-faceted nature of the assistance: “We are providing necessary assistance to all the sectors in Guimaras depending on their needs.” This initiative is part of DOLE’s efforts to foster sustainable livelihoods, prepare the youth for the workforce, and ensure labor standards are met in micro establishments.
