The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 6 (DOLE RO 6) concluded its Women’s Month celebration with a series of activities focused on gender equality, women’s rights, and community empowerment.
The culminating program featured educational and wellness sessions for staff, emphasizing respect for women and the role of responsible parenthood in building strong family foundations.
One of the key sessions was a learning discussion on Responsible Parenthood led by Mary Ann Cambalo, population officer of the Iloilo Provincial Government.
This was paired with a video presentation on the International Labour Organization’s Convention 190, which tackles violence and harassment in the world of work.
“These sessions have broadened the knowledge of our personnel on women’s rights and the importance of fostering healthy, respectful workplaces,” DOLE RO 6 said in a statement.
To highlight inclusivity and solidarity, members of the LGBTQ community offered wellness services such as massage, manicure, pedicure, haircut, and eyebrow threading to DOLE personnel.
The gesture aimed to promote not only self-care but also gender equality by showcasing diverse contributions to community support and empowerment.
Assistant Regional Director Melisa S. Navarra encouraged staff to continue championing women’s rights beyond the Women’s Month celebration.
“We should not end our advocacy with the culminating activity; let us continue to appreciate the works and achievements of women in our everyday life,” Navarra said.
She also thanked the women of DOLE RO 6 for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public service.
Meanwhile, in observance of Girl-Child Week from March 23 to 29, TUPAD Coordinator Maria Alessandra Areño led a special presentation titled “Voice of the Voiceless—A Case Digest for the Girl-Child Observance.”
The session brought attention to the specific vulnerabilities faced by girls and underscored the need for stronger protections and advocacy.
The series of events underscores DOLE RO 6’s commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and empowering work environment aligned with national gender and development goals.
