THE Department of Tourism (DOT)-6 regional office showed its all out support to the Dinagyang Festive Parade last January 26, 2019.
DOT-6 gathered representatives from more than 25 DOT-Accredited Tourism Oriented Establishments and Tourism Related Establishments in the city and province of Iloilo and led the parade which started from the new Freedom Grandstand in Muelle Loney and ended at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
Richlyn Joy Villalobos, the Tourism Teen Ambassadress of WV, was also present during the merry making.
When asked about her first experience in a tourism event, Villalobos said Im overwhelmed with the energy and vibe Im getting from everyone. Seeing all these people dedicate their time and effort motivated me to do better and contribute in any way I can.
The delegation danced to the tune of Paraiso composed by Tumandok Crew, champion of the Experience Western Visayas First Hiligaynon Rap Competition last 2012, with steps choreographed by tourism operations officer Fredrick Oleo.
According to Phaella Marie Cataluña, Inbound Tours Manager of Iloilo Skyways Travel and Tours, It was very tiring but I was part of a historic event and thats more than enough for me. Im surrounded by my fellow tourism stakeholders and to be able to work with them for a cause is truly amazing.
DOT-6 Regional Director, Atty. Helen J. Catalbas, said the parade is another record set by the regiona office because for the first time, accredited entities including competitors joined and danced on the streets of Iloilo City in the spirit of unity and celebration.
The support and enthusiasm from the industry partners are validation of the efforts of DOT to promote Western Visayas as one. (KFA)
