ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police are set to file double murder charges against suspects in the November 9 shooting death of a married couple in Dumarao, Capiz.

Police Colonel Albert Tapulao, Capiz police director, stated that charges would be filed against the suspects in the fatal shooting of Romeo Bagaforo, 47, a farmer, and his wife, Regil Bagaforo, 48, both residents of Sitio Magalan, Barangay Sagrada Familia.

The couple died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Tapulao confirmed that police have identified persons of interest in the case.

“We cannot yet reveal the identities of the suspects as the investigation is ongoing. However, we assure the victims’ family that authorities will pursue the case until charges are filed,” he said.

The couple was ambushed by a group of armed men while riding home on a motorcycle.

The suspects reportedly hid along the roadside, then emerged to open fire on the Bagaforos.

Captain Tobias Garfin, Dumarao police chief, said at least three suspects are being pursued.

He declined to provide additional details about the persons of interest.

“It’s premature to identify the suspects,” Garfin said.

He suggested that personal grudges might be the motive behind the killing but did not elaborate.
