The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), has completed the concreting of a farm-to-market road in Barangay Tupaz, Carles, Iloilo.
Constructed by the DPWH Iloilo 3rd District Engineering Office, the PHP11-million project was funded under the district’s FY 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and aims to improve local agricultural connectivity.
The project involved the construction of a 1-kilometer, 5-meter-wide, two-lane Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP). This development will significantly benefit local farmers and fisherfolk by enhancing the town’s transport system.
DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel emphasized that the new road will increase the efficiency of transporting agricultural products, thus boosting the local economy and fostering community growth.
“This farm-to-market road provides local farmers faster access to transport their goods and products. The road will ensure and facilitate the effective transit of the town’s diverse agricultural and fishery products, contributing to more progress for its residents,” Oropel said. (DPWH)
